On friday 09-may-2008 the Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz said that smaller and locally owned bioethanol plants (for biofuels production) represents the key for improving the energetic efficiency of the biofuel production cycle in Canada. One of the main reasons is that a wide network oh bioethanol production units allows the trucks carrying feedstocks (like corn, beet molasses, sugar cane molasses etc...) to travel shorter distances, reducing their fuel consumption. “Smaller and locally owned I think are the right way to go,” Ritz said.We hope the such a strategy will be evalueted in Europe too and could represent a simple way to boost the bioethanol production.
